Our Top AI Podcasts

If you’re anything like me, you spend your morning train ride either glued to your phone sucking up the latest news, or plugged into Spotify in an attempt to drown out the hellish experience of being in an enclosed space with other people. But what if you could somehow combine the two? Well, that would be a podcast… duh!

I’m also guessing that, as you’re reading this, you’re probably interested in technology, am I right? And AI is a pretty big part of technology. So, to satisfy your AI craving, and to offer you a new way to enjoy that daily commute, here’s the TDMB’s favourite AI podcasts for you to listen to at your leisure!

1. TWinML&AI (This Week In Machine Learning and AI)

If you’re looking for a whole treasure trove of artificial intelligence podcasts in one place, then you could do a lot worse than TWinML&ML. With titles such as ‘Selling AI to the Enterprise’ and ‘Integrating Psycholinguistics Into AI’, it’s clear that these podcasts aren’t for the faint-hearted. However, if you have a good grasp of the lingo and techie aspects of AI, this site full of yummy AI podcasts is for you. Here’s our pick of the pack to get you started:

2. Concerning AI

Another site with a whole bunch of AI podcasts just waiting to be devoured. These ones are more along the lines of AI = existential crisis. Well, I don’t know about you, but that’s actually my favourite topic! The site subheading is ‘Is There An Existential Risk To Humanity From AI? If So, What Do We Do About It?’ – which gives you a good idea of the many related topics you’ll be getting. Hosted by Ted Sarvata and Brandon Sanders, titles include ‘Can Neuralink Save Us?’ and If It Were Superintelligent, It Would Be Hard To Argue With.

3. The O’Reilly Bots Podcast

The O’Reilly Bots Podcast covers advances in conversational user interfaces, artificial intelligence, and messaging that are revolutionising the way we interact with software. There are (at time of writing) 25 podcasts to work your way through here, dating back to August 2016. They’re available on Soundcloud and iTunes for you to subscribe to, as well as via RSS feed and Stitcher.

4. The Talking Machines

There’s plenty of AI podcasts here for you. Like the TWinML&AI one, these are pretty in-depth so not the most accessible for the novice AI enthusiast, but that’s not to say that they aren’t entirely engaging. Though you may get a bit of a headache wrapping your fragile human mind around terms like ‘restricted Boltzmann machines’ and ‘Gaussian processes’, there’s also lots of stuff that’s not quite so high-brow – like Machine Learning and Society’.

5. The AI Podcast

With topics from using AI to enhance gaming to its applications in medicine and healthcare, this wide-ranging AI podcast channel on Soundcloud is good if you like a bit of variety in your listening. We particularly like ‘How AI and VR Intersect and How AI Learns Racism and Sexism.
