Facebook reportedly working on Breaking New App.

Recent research suggests that more users are turning to social networks for their portion of daily news. Facebook will be using selected publications and sending tweet style headlines straight to the users’ phone. The “style tweet” is likely to be no more than 100 characters long but when clicked by the user will take them to the whole story! Watch this space!

Using Social Media Platforms to uncover the truth about the university course you are applying for!

University Marketing Departments up and down the country have spent £’s on advertising trying to get students through the door!  How do you know what its really like to live and study at that academic institution? Here are 6 top tips to help you:

  1. Contact a student through Twitter who is studying the course you are applying for. Why not DM with some questions?
  2. Connect into Private Facebook groups; explain to the page administrator why you want to join even just for a short time.
  3. Please make sure you have the correct privacy settings to keep yourself safe e.g. your mobile number.
  4. Search for student forums, you could ask what the quality of the lectures are like
  5. Use Trip Advisor to see what the night life in town is like!
  6. Not sure what the accommodation is going to be like use Instagram to find out! Make use of the hashtag!
  7. Bloggers are also an excellent way to find out information about your chosen university as well.

Things have changed since my day!

Blab – 4 Ways! (Beta)blab

Video streaming Apps are now becoming the hottest apps in town. You just have to look at Periscope, Google Hangout, Facebook (Super Stars) and Yahoo to realise that! Blab in my opinion takes it to the next level!

The website is called Blab.im, where four people can video chat simultaneously as an audience watches, comments and can instantly switch places with one of the four video chatters.

You sign in using twitter and your twitter bio is displayed for all to see. When you get the courage to join a chat the moderator can invite you in or decline you. The chat can be recorded or let it disappear into cyberspace! Like Periscope Hearts, Blab has two “high 5 hands” which can be clicked on the bottom right and side of the screen to show you who are the most popular chatters in the conversation.

The app’s popularity component is important, because Blab also gives you the ability to mute any or all of the four video chatters. So, for example, if three people are interviewing someone, you can choose to mute the three interviewers and just listen to the answers from the interview subject.

The application for this app is amazing: Each band member playing in different locations creating one sound!   Someone could be back stage doing a live interview with another person videoing the concert! See what you think – sign up!

Twitter officially drops 140-character limit…twitter-117595_640

for direct messages!

Twitter users can officially send one another direct messages topping 140 characters starting Wednesday. Twitter is phasing in the change across Android, iOS and web-based platforms on Wednesday, lasting over the next few weeks. Instead of 140 characters, the social network previously said in June the new character maximum would be 10,000.

leonardnimoy_3405428bA Great Actor honoured: Leonard Nimoy

Leonard Nimoy, the much-loved Star Trek actor who died in February aged 83, has been honoured in his role as Mr Spock by a photo mosaic of thousands of fans performing his iconic salute. William Shatner asked star trek fans to send him a picture of them performing the Vulcan’s salute.  The result was amazing! William Shatner said “Why did I ask for all those #LLAP selfies? For a @gishwhes task as a tribute to Leonard. Thank you!”

In the words of Mr Spock “live long and prosper”  –  have a great end to your week !
