Your Weekly AR & VR Review

Hey everyone,

I hope you are all having a nice weekend?

I recently bought my first house with my fiancee Gem, it looks like we might be able to move at the end of the June, I can tell you that I didn’t realise how long it takes for everything to complete.

Exciting news, I will be speaking at VR & AR world on the 15th June so if anyone wants to meet up for a coffee and chat let me know.

1.The Most Socially-Shared VR Story Of The Week

Interesting article – Asia’s new Virtual Reality theme park.

Most of you would’ve of seen or experienced VR in a theme park, perhaps on a rollercoaster or a simulator.

However, Asia has decided to notch it up a level by creating a full VR amusement park. I still remember arcades and going to Chessington and Alton Towers and thinking wow, however, this generation and generations to come will experience VR on a whole new level.

VR is set to see growth by 20% this year so I can understand why theme parks would want to jump on the bandwagon.

It’s going to have a four-player space exploration mission, called Dimension 12, players get to experience a fully-immersive, wireless, and free-roaming VR gaming experience.

2. The Most Socially-Shared AR Story Of The Week

If you read my reviews of you follow Apple then you will know that Augmented Reality is near the top of their agenda.

We already know that future iPhones will be AR capable but that means we need AR apps, well Apple’s app store is about to receive an AR boost as the company wants to allow developers to bring even more augmented reality apps to iOS devices.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this story as it develops as I for one can’t wait to see AR being properly introduced to IOS and Android devices.

3. Fancy Driving A Starfighter Or A Ferrari 458 Italia

I found this YouTube video on Twitter produced by machkun1

I thought it looked amazing and I love the fact that this guy has gone all out to show the potential of VR. I have always played racing games, Toca, MotoGP, for example, but this is just taking the piss!

This is unreal, it looks awesome and I would love to have ago.

I can only hope that this is the future of gaming

There are a few issues, one being it costs $25,000 dollars, that’s quite a price tag, I wonder how long it will be until this type of tech becomes the norm?

5. Holographic Veins – Medtech

Augmented Reality is now being used to help with the withdrawal of blood. Now I am not scared of needles and to be honest I quite enjoy giving blood, however, I understand that some people are terrified of needles

Using AR we can now eliminate the time it takes to get it done therefore making patients more at ease as it’s a potentially quicker and safer procedure. There is hardly any adult in the developed world who has never been the subject of a blood draw. The easiest way to access medical information about a patient is through a blood test.

A fantastic use of AR and the potential incorporation of Robotic technology working in tandem with AR.

5. Virtual Reality – Hospice Patients Check Off Their Bucket

The final article of the week and it’s a lovely way to end the review, more importantly, it’s amazing to see VR having a such a positive impact on someone’s life.
